Our cacao is sourced ethically and sustainably from Papua New Guinea as whole “pods” and then brought to Australia to be carefully stoneground and dutched in small batches. This means that it’s pretty much the freshest and most vibrant cacao going around, you will immediately notice the incredible chocolate aroma as you open your bag of Cacao Bloom for the first time.

Antioxidants are a group of molecules that are categorized by their ability to neutralise “free radicals” which are unstable molecules, caused by oxidation, that can harm your cells, causing what is known as “oxidative stress”. Introducing antioxidant rich foods to your diet is a great way to support overall health, recovery and maintaining a natural glow. There are many different antioxidants found in many different food sources, especially fruit and veg. In cacao you will find an abundance of flavanols, a type of polyphenol that is linked to the cardiovascular system.

Although not closely related in a botanical sense, Maqui and Acai share a similar field of play as antioxidant rich purple berries that hail from South America. It is actually the anthocyanins (antioxidants) that give these superfoods their colour, and while acai boasts a lovely cool pink colour, the deep bluey purple of the maqui berry speaks to higher antioxidant activity. Both berries have become popular health foods, with acai bowls even becoming a popular trend over the last few years. We want to make sure the maqui berry doesn’t get left behind as we think that, between the two contenders, maqui wins out when it comes to chocolate with it’s slightly more looming and dark cherry-like flavour.

Simply activate approx. 1 heaped teaspoon of cacao powder with a splash of warm water.

Add 200mL of your choice of milk and give it a little stir.

Steam or heat gently over the stove until warm and silky. Pour into a cup and enjoy!
