Adaptogens are a variety of natural ingredients, that act on mechanisms within the cells throughout our body. This helps our bodies ‘adapt' to stress, mainly through increasing the body’s ability to use oxygen by improving our resistance to stress, therefore promoting overall health and energy balance.
While many adaptogens have been used for hundreds and hundreds of years in a variety of cultures from Chinese and Russian, to Indian and Scandinavian, the term Adaptogen was only coined by scientist N.V. Lazarev in 1947. He “discovered” what Ayurvedic practitioners had already known for eternity - that certain pants have compounds that give them the ability to resist stressful environments by adapting.
The actions of adaptogens are most easily seen when your body’s physical functions are out of balance. For example when you are stressed for a long period of time, instead of staying alert you become exhausted. In these situations an adaptogen can be more helpful than a stimulant because they don’t cause jitters when they give you a boost, and they don’t cause a low when they wear off. -
AS A HOT DRINK
In a saucepan or brewing pot, slowly stir the specified measure of your Erbista powder (see below) into 200ml of your choice of milk over low heat until warm. Do not boil as you will start to burn off the adaptogenic properties and alter the flavour. If you are making one of the Erbista matcha blends you will need to strain out the leaves. Pour into a cup and enjoy!
A great tip is to start by turning the powder into a paste inside the pot with a little bit of milk and a whisk. Then add the rest of the milk while slowly combining the mixture. Click here for accessories to help you make the perfect brew
AS A COLD DRINK
Combine the specified measure of your Erbista powder (see below) to 200mL of your choice of milk using either a milk frother or blender. Pour into a glass over ice and don't forget to strain out the leaves if you are making an Erbista iced matcha. Click here for accessories to help you make the perfect icy treat

We developed our range of products very carefully to impart comfort and joy to the drinker. We found that many adaptogenic drink blends are either providing a health punch and somewhat forgetting about the overall drinking experience, or overloading their products with high sugar contents.
Using fun colours and flavours, following an underlying culinary approach, we believe we have devised a way to gift a moment of "total wellness" rich in self love, mental clarity and happiness (as-well-as all of the physical health benefits) that will inspire you throughout the day. Erbista is the brainchild of creative people and we believe that gives us an edge in understanding what it feels like to be truly inspired or letting our mind wander into happy daydreams. -
Caffeine is a stimulant that boosts cognitive function and the functions of your central nervous system. We all know about that sudden rush, jitters and inevitable crash that has become synonymous with coffee.
What if we told you there was another, better and more productive way to enjoy a daily caffeine dose. Enter matcha and its caffeine rationing amino acid L-Theanine that slows down your body's absorption of caffeine resulting in a longer lasting, less jittery effect. In terms of boosting your overall productiveness and focus levels we can't recommend our Matcha Myrtle and Matcha Mallow enough!
Now over to cacao which contains a small (bordering on trace) amount of caffeine. We're talking around 5 milligrams of caffeine per serve compared to almost 100 milligrams in your standard cup of coffee. Furthermore, cacao is a rich source of magnesium which is important for sleep and good rest. One of our cacao blends might be the perfect addition to your evening routine.
